Veva Law's registered Information Officer.

Every responsible party in South Africa must designate an Information Officer under section 56 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013. This is ours.

What you can ask us

  • Access — what personal information we hold on you, where it came from, who has it now, and why.
  • Correction — fix information that is wrong, out of date, misleading, or unlawfully obtained.
  • Deletion — destroy personal information we are no longer entitled to retain.
  • Objection — to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, including direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent — for processing that depends on it.
  • Complain — directly to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za if our response does not satisfy you.

How we respond

  • Acknowledgement within 5 business days.
  • Substantive reply within 30 days (POPIA s. 23), extendable once by a further 30 days for complex requests.
  • Where we hold no information matching the request, we say so in writing.
  • Where we refuse on a POPIA / PAIA Chapter 4 ground, we explain why and what your recourse is.

Breach notifications

In the event of a security compromise involving personal information, we notify the Information Regulator and affected data subjects within 72 hours, as required by POPIA s. 22. Our breach runbook is reviewed twice a year.
